Brethren,

What a pleasure it has been to be your Worshipful Master for the last two years, I thank you all for this opportunity to serve. It was a challenge that I recommend for all. I always have found that good freemasonry contributes to the success in ones private life when we practice those excellent precepts that are ever inculcated in it.

We have walked through some dark and difficult times over these last few years but as we look forward to the next term and beyond, I sincerely believe that we have the determination and will to not only survive but to flourish.

Finally I would like to congratulate the new officers and wish them all the best in the coming term. I encourage every member to continue to support the incoming team, Confederation Lodge and Freemasonry in general, it is indeed a wonderful Institution of which I am proud to belong.

A word about the Master

This month sees the closing of W. Brother Barkley’s term as Worshipful Master of Confederation Lodge and Id like to take this opportunity to thank him for his dedication and diligence in navigating Confederation lodge through some difficult times.  In spite of having a very busy life himself with his profession and his young family, our Worshipful Master never failed to attend
our meetings and bring with him a message of friendship and support.

February marks the first tyled meeting for Confederation Lodge since its change of by-laws. This month we celebrate the official visit of our most esteemed member and District Deputy Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Murray Kirk. Please come out and attend this opportunity as we showcase our lodge to the district.

As we transition from our this new format we continue to enjoy interest from people outside the Fraternity looking for more information about our lodge.

In April we hope to deliver a wonderful debate evening at the Ward Room similar to events we have held in the past.

Brethren, we as a lodge are only as good as the those who attend and give a part of yourself to the good of the Fraternity and your friends.  May everyone enjoy the light of Freemasonry.

Notices of Motion: At the next regular meeting of Confederation Lodge, I will move or cause to be moved that Confederation Lodge changes its bylaws to state the Confederation Lodge will hold at least one tyled meeting per year and that the annual dues will be reduced to $100 per year. ~ Bro. Confederation Lodge though will be very busy in 2009 as the lodge will continue to do what we do best and that is present good events and recite great ritual.

Thank you one and all for your participation at the Grand Masters Visit to District 21 last month. The members of Confederation Lodge deserve every accolade in conducting the event with dignity, competence and confidence. I was so very proud to be counted among the brethren of Confederation Lodge and I can assure you that the Grand Master and his wife Laura were delighted with every accommodation made them from the members and families of our District and our Lodge.

I entered this fraternity with unconditional faith. The faith that I would receive no harm in my initiation. The faith that I was going from being a good man to a better man. The faith that the lodge would provide me with the means to fulfill my obligations. I must say that the fraternity has maintained that objective.

This summer during our time of darkness the lodge has not sat by idling ready to receive what is appearing top be its perceived fate. No the active members of the lodge have congregated at a members back yard and continued to promote freemasonry as it should in this new millennium. Ideas were shared and debated all with one purpose. To direct the lodge in a path that is able to combat the plagues of freemasonry.

The active past masters of the lodge received this information and have achieved reasonable options. Options are necessary as we in the lodge must make a big decision this month as we have a notice of motion on the floor that needs to be dealt with. The time has passed for rhetorical debates and great ideas. The time now is for action! Action is what the lodge will receive.

Confederation Lodge, the small lodge that could, is again; going to thrill the audience of other Freemasons with being innovative. Just as advertisers must constantly change how it delivers the message of their product, we, at Confederation will change how we deliver our freemasonry.
